History: The Berea Church of God moved into its current facility on Rash Road on Feb. 24, 2008. Dedication
services were held on April 6, 2008. The church history traces back to 1937 when prayer services were held at Eliza
Richardson's home in Berea. The church then moved to Oak Street and became affiliated with the Church of God,
Cleveland, Tenn. In 1968, the church erected a modern sanctuary on U.S. 25 North and remained there until it was
destroyed by fire in 2004. The church then met in two locations for three months and leased a facility on
Wallaceton Road for three years. Construction began on the current facility in 2007.
Vision: "We will be known as a church that is passionate about Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit and
committed to one another in fellowship, in discipleship, in evangelism and in anoited worship."
Purpose: "To produce passionate and committed disciples of Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit."
No going back: "There is no going back to style over substance or performance over preparation.
There is no going back to programing over prayer. There is no going back to a song service over a worship
experience or a sermon over a message. Whether we like it or not, God has laid his hand upon us. God has called all
of us to a higher place in him, Are you going to answer the call? Or are you going to continue to make excuses why
you cannot be the person that God wants you to be? The choice is yours, but remember there is no going back."
